School Holiday Ideas

Magnificent Maths Ideas for over the holidays

Below are some wonderful links to mathematics activities to have a go at with your child/ children over the holidays. The summer is a great time to engage in conversations about distance and reading maps as you travel away on holiday. Introducing your child/ children to maths in a fun, relaxed way allows them to explore patterns and relationships. Encouraging your child to explain what they are doing allows them to make meaning and think more deeply about the task they are solving. .

The Kete page includes links to how free or low-cost items can be used for exploring maths ideas at home. https://nzmaths.co.nz/maths-kete

The "Maths at our house" pages include a growing collection of suggestions about ways that you can use everyday experiences and resources to explore maths. https://nzmaths.co.nz/maths-our-house

Wishing you all a very happy and safe holiday
