PTA UPDATE – 2016 Thank you
It has been a big year for the PTA with the success of some great events and thanks to the support of family and friends of the school community, the PTA have been able to donate over $20,000 to the school this year!
To date funds have contributed towards:
· the fantastic looking kapa haka uniforms;
· reducing the cost for all school children to be able to attend the Argo’s Gym visits during term 3 and 4;
· the donation of $1,000 for new books for the school library during book week;
· and providing headsets with 5 way splitters for ipads for each classroom.
The remaining money of about $15,000 will be going towards new air conditioning units in some classrooms for 2017.
Thank you so much to all those that have come along to support events during the year and especially those who have come along to help as volunteers. These events could not have happened without you. The children’s duathlon, the mid-winter quiz night, the annual Gala day, milo and marshmallow night, ice cream sundae days, the sale of Entertainment books, sausage sizzles, and pizza days have all been great days that have been enjoyed by young and old(er J) alike.
We couldn’t have pulled off any of these events without our sponsors, so thank you to all those that provided prizes and contributions this year, particularly more recently our gala sponsors http://www.tauriko.school.nz/
The PTA would like to specifically thank Richard van Dijk and Catherine Lord, who are both standing down from the PTA this year. Both have been strongly involved in the PTA for over three years, and have spent numerous hours organising and helping to hold events. They have been instrumental in raising funds particularly for the pool refurbishment in 2014 and for the new library going in next year, in 2015. Richard and Catherine have decided it is time to stand down and let others take over the reins and come in with new and fresh ideas and perspectives. As such, the PTA are looking for new faces to come and join in 2017. Current committee members have found it a great way to meet people, a great way to help give back to the school in a way can fit around work or family commitments and it is rewarding seeing tangible outcomes in place, that may have not happened if it wasn’t for the PTA.
If you would like to become involved or have any questions about the PTA, please email email@example.com or call Jolene Nelson on 027 233 2676.
Finally, last but not least, thank you to the teachers and staff. Your help and patience on PTA event days has been very much appreciated and we look forward to working with you in 2017 J.
Have a good summer break everyone!
