 When is the Ag Day and Twilight Gala?

 Why is it on a weekday?

The Group Day animal judging takes place on the 2nd weekend of Term 4.  The Tauriko School Gala normally takes place in the 1st weekend of Term 4, however this year that falls on Labour Weekend.  The PTA and School Management feel this is too much of an ask of families to expect involvement of our families and teachers over a long weekend, hence the reason to bring it forward to a weekday. 

What attractions will be at the Gala?

There will be:

•                     El Jammage band as entertainment

•                     Food Trucks including The Milk Bar, Posh Nosh, Tag Burger, Hairraisingly Coffee, Hollywood                          Bakery, Candy’s coffee, and more!

•                     Traditional PTA sausage sizzle, American Hot dogs and Bacon and Egg Sandwiches

•                     Bumper balls

•                     Bungy Run 

•                     Live and silent auctions

•                     Quick fire raffles

•                     Magic carpet rides

•                     Mini jeeps

•                     Chairoplane

•                     Bouncy castles

•                     Toss the toilet paper

•                     Sandpit digging

•                     Chocolate trailer

•                     Horse rides

•                     Face painting

•                     Children’s stalls

•                     Candyfloss, cakes, dessert stalls.....the list goes on! 

What can families do to help with the Gala?

On the 15th September, Gala Information Packs were sent home with the eldest child in each family.  Within these packs was a number of documents, including:

Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.  For the Gala to be a success we need over 100 volunteer hours and so we really do need as much support from parents as possible.  We thank you in advance for the help you can provide!

Tauriko School PTA

The Tauriko School PTA is a team of like-minded mums, dads, caregivers and teachers who get together to fundraise for some of the extras that make our school a great place to be - things that make life fun, interesting or more easily accessible for our kids. We also believe we have a role to play in building and strengthening our community, so we feel more involved and connected to the school.

As usual, for all volunteer groups, we are always looking for new faces and fresh enthusiasm. Being part of the PTA is a great way to get involved, meet new people and come up with productive ideas to make a difference in our community. If you are interested in becoming part of our PTA please let us know. We meet once a month to share ideas and plan for upcoming events.

If you would still like to help, but don’t wish to be formally part of the PTA, then we would also love to hear from you.  We are always looking for people to help out from time to time, whether it is to roll the odd scoop of ice cream, put a marquee up or cook a sausage! If this sounds like you, again please let us know.

Will you be a R.A.F.T?

RAFTS are Relatives and Friends of Tauriko School who are willing to do a bit extra for the school.

In many cases parents feel they are too busy to attend PTA meetings but are often able to help out once or twice a year on school projects. Examples are helping with a book fair, setting up at Calf Club day, selling extra raffle tickets or providing baking for a special event.

If you are able to help out a couple of times a year the PTA would love to hear from you. Participation by
parents helps to bring our school community together and the more participation we get – the easier and more fun it is for everyone. We would be delighted to see all families helping out once a year if possible.

To become a RAFT please fill in the online form. If you have particular things that you are interested in e.g. cooking, sports, building, fundraising then that would be worth a mention as well. We will email you when we are looking for a bit of extra help.
