Pick Up and Drop Off at Tauriko School for the First Week of Term 2
Due to recent bad weather the new carpark has not had car park markings completed. Therefore only STAFF and BUSES will use this new carpark for the first week of Term. They will enter through a temporary road through the Downer worksite.
All parents/caregivers/whanau will use the USUAL ENTRANCE. Downer staff will be here to direct you through this area of the school. Please be aware that for the first week of school these management details will be in place:
Downer traffic staff will direct parents/caregivers/whanau through three temporary lanes of traffic in the morning and afternoon. Traffic will merge at the end of the car park
Only the parents/caregivers/whanau of NEW students THIS TERM are able to drive in and park in the mornings. In the afternoon they must drive through as outlined below
In the morning for Drop Off - ALL other parents/caregivers/whanau MUST drive through and stay in their cars. Students arriving in the morning will get out and walk across a clearly marked entry to school.
In the afternoon for Pick Up - ALL parents/caregivers/whanau MUST drive through and stay in their cars. As you merge, your children will be delivered to you. Staff will be out, with the Downer team, to support students to be picked up safely.
Please do not pick your children up earlier this week. This will make our carpark very difficult to manage.
The gate by the PAC will be open as usual from 7:45am.
Please ensure that all changes to bus travel are done by noon of that day. With students being in totally different areas of the school this week for pick up, it will not be easy to support last minute changes
Disabled car parking continues to be available at the end of the office block by the turf
I am aware that the situation for arrival and departure from school for the first week of this Term is not ideal. However, as a community we will all pull together with patience and positive outlooks to make this work the best we can.
Announcement of new future State Highway
With recent announcements by NZTA and the housing development now in its initial stages beside our school it is clear that the change that was coming for Tauriko School is now happening.
Tauriko School is NOT closing due to this change but going from strength to strength. High quality, personalised teaching and learning programmes delivered by committed passionate staff means learning is meaningful, engaging and fun for all students. This is being further enhanced through the New Zealand Curriculum refresh. Tauriko School is proud of the wide variety of extra-curricula activities provided for students, the opportunities for students to grow as leaders, and of its highly involved whanau and community. School life is vibrant and it is business as usual!
Both the Board of Trustees and I will be working hard with the Ministry of Education to establish a new school site and buildings which eventually our current school will move into - taking with us all the very best that Tauriko School is. As this work begins and then progresses we will inform the community along the way, sharing timeframes as these are confirmed.
Rest assured, Tauriko School is here to stay. We celebrate a proud history, enjoy a vibrant present and look forward to an exciting future!
School Entrance
Enabling Works being carried out by NZTA mean that the entrance to Tauriko School is changing. Our community is being kept informed in relation to this and our facebook page is a great place to keep up to date with the progress of this change - a result of the City's improving infrastructure.
